We are a private, non-profit corporation dedicated to economic development by providing affordable financing for Arizona businesses. We are one of Arizona’s most experienced SBA lenders, and we have tools and resources that simplify the SBA 504 loan process. We have financed more than $1 billion in projects from our offices in Tucson and Phoenix since 1979. When you work with us, you have all of our resources and expertise at your disposal. Gary Moldena

Gary joined Arizona Capital Source in 1987 as Development Group Manager and has served as President of the organization since 1993. His line manager responsibilities include oversight of the community development group and serving as senior account executive for the nonprofit Community Finance Corporation.

Career Milestones:
* Project management/development of over $140 million of institutional projects on time and within budget for a wide range of public sector and nonprofit clients, including the University of Arizona, City of Tucson, Cochise County and the United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona.
* Developed the business strategy and built a portfolio of over $2.0 billion in office, educational and essential workforce housing facilities owned by the nonprofit Community Finance Corporation and leased to governmental entities utilizing tax exempt P3 financing structures.

Prior to joining BDFC, Gary worked for a commercial real estate developer and a national architectural firm that specialized in complex health care and high technology projects. Gary holds a B.S. and Master of Architecture degree from the University of Illinois together with an MBA degree also from the University of Illinois.

Gabriel Gomez

Gabriel Gomez joined Arizona Capital Source, at the time known as Business Development Finance Corporation (BDFC),  in 2007.  He started as a Loan Officer/Underwriter and after 5 years was promoted to Business Development Officer for the Tucson and SE Arizona market.  In 2023, he became Executive Vice President, Operations overseeing the Underwriting, Closing, and Servicing Department as well as managing the entire ACS portfolio. 

Gabe graduated from the Eller College of Business at the University of Arizona.  He remains a loyal Wildcat fan. 

Gabe is married and has a daughter.  He enjoys golf, watching sports, traveling, barbecuing with friends, going to U of A sporting events, and supporting many of the locally owned restaurants and breweries throughout Tucson.

Tasha Harvey

Tasha Harvey joined Arizona Capital Source in December 2024, bringing over 27 years of experience in Banking, Economic Development, and Business & Commercial Real Estate Lending. As Executive Vice President of Strategy & Marketing, she leads strategic initiatives and oversees the SBA sales team at ACS, focusing on driving growth and expanding market presence.

Tasha holds a B.S. in Community Development from Central Michigan University. She has extensive expertise in the Community Advantage Loan program and Bank CRA (Community Reinvestment Act) regulations, having successfully managed high-performing sales teams and developed innovative lending solutions. She is also a licensed Real Estate Agent and has held Insurance Licensing in the past.

Tasha is deeply committed to supporting small businesses by identifying growth opportunities and teaching financial literacy to both individuals and business owners. Her work in financial empowerment aims to build lasting business success and help clients achieve their goals.

A strong advocate for job creation, entrepreneurial growth, and economic resilience, Tasha fosters mutually beneficial relationships across financial and entrepreneurial ecosystems, creating opportunities for sustainable growth and wealth-building. Her leadership has contributed to the success of countless businesses, benefiting both clients and partners alike.

Outside of work, Tasha is newly engaged and a proud mother of three daughters. She enjoys traveling with her family and discovering new destinations together.

Brent Smith

Brent Smith is the Credit Manager for Arizona Capital Source.  He manages the underwriting and loan packaging team.

Brent grew up in Northern Virginia and moved to Arizona in 2000 to attend Northern Arizona University.  He lived in Flagstaff for 8 years.  He has a Master’s degree in finance/management and a Bachelor’s degree in graphic design both from NAU.

Brent began his small business lending career with National Bank of Arizona in 2008. He joined Arizona Capital Source in 2017.  Brent enjoys helping small businesses obtain financing that they may not be able to receive from conventional financing.

Brent is married and has three children. He enjoys playing golf, hiking, fishing, and watching NFL and NHL games.

Lori Simmons

Lori Simmons brings Arizona Capital Source over thirty years of commercial underwriting, lending and relationship management experience. She managed commercial banking relationships for two large banks, a community bank, and a Tucson non-profit organization. Lori received her degree in Finance from Northern Arizona University, and spent much of her professional career in Northern Arizona, and has strong community connections from across the entire state of Arizona. Lori prides herself on being able to demystify the lending process for small business owners. She enjoys educating clients and helping them achieve their business growth goals.

Lori’s passion has always been serving on non-profit boards, primarily those that serve youth in our communities. She has been a public school board member, Booster Club and PTO President, and Economic Development Council Treasurer while in the Verde Valley. Since relocating to Tucson, Lori was a Member of the Southern AZ Chapter of the National Football Foundation and 100+ Women Who Care Tucso. She is a volunteer for Project Mom at U of A, a Community Foodbank volunteer, and a member of CREW and CCIM.

Lori is married and has three grown sons she is very proud of. She enjoys bass fishing at Roosevelt Lake, trout fishing from her kayak in the White Mountains, riding in her side by side in Happy Jack, and anything where she can spend time with her husband and sons outdoors.

Ross Kohl

Ross Kohl brings 30 years of SBA and commercial lending experience to Arizona Capital Source.  He has spent a total of over 13 years at ACS in business development and underwriting roles.

Ross has worked in SBA lending at several banks in positions ranging from credit analysis, underwriting, business development and management.  He has dedicated the vast majority of his career to helping small businesses obtain financing to assist them in their growth and success.

Ross has also volunteered through the years with several charities and non-profits including Junior Achievement, Hunger Task Force, Fiesta Bowl, and was a board member and treasurer for Paradise Valley North Little League.

Ross earned a B.B.A. Degree from the University of Wisconsin and M.B.A. Degree from Western International University.

Ross is married and has 2 grown sons. He enjoys playing golf, team sports, going to the gym, and hanging out with his family and friends.

Anthony Martinez

With a career spanning 30 years, Anthony has held various roles including Branch Manager, Loan Officer, and Business Development Officer, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of the banking landscape.

Anthony holds a degree in business finance from the University of Arizona. He proudly calls Queen Creek, Arizona, home, where he resides with his wife and family. With three sons, one daughter, and three grandchildren, family is central to Anthony’s life.

Anthony enjoys exploring the natural beauty of Arizona through hiking and discovering new Jeep trails.

Robert Perez

Robert Perez is a seasoned finance professional with over 20 years of experience navigating multiple banking channels. His expertise spans commercial lending, small business financing, equipment financing, and both owner-occupied and investment property financing, including work with developers. Throughout his career, Robert has focused on building strong, lasting relationships with clients and partners, helping them grow and succeed at every stage.

Originally from Chicago, Robert has lived in Avondale, Arizona for the past 18 years. He is deeply committed to his community, actively involved with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and a longtime volunteer with Metro Tech High School in Phoenix and Habitat for Humanity.

A devoted husband and proud father of five, Robert enjoys traveling, cheering on his Chicago sports teams, and spending time with family, friends, and the family dogs.
