Gabriel Gomez

Gabriel Gomez joined Arizona Capital Source, at the time known as Business Development Finance Corporation (BDFC),  in 2007.  He started as a Loan Officer/Underwriter and after 5 years was promoted to Business Development Officer for the Tucson and SE Arizona market.  In 2023, he became Executive Vice President, Operations overseeing the Underwriting, Closing, and Servicing Department as well as managing the entire ACS portfolio. 

Gabe graduated from the Eller College of Business at the University of Arizona.  He remains a loyal Wildcat fan. 

Gabe is married and has a daughter.  He enjoys golf, watching sports, traveling, barbecuing with friends, going to U of A sporting events, and supporting many of the locally owned restaurants and breweries throughout Tucson.

Todd Whisler

Todd Joined the Arizona Capital Source family July of 2020, after 20+ years  in the commercial banking space. Todd grew up in AZ and later lived in CO where he completed his degree from the University of Colorado and started his career in Banking.  In 2003 Todd returned to AZ and had long tenures with Arizona Business Bank (8 yrs) and Great Western Bank (9 yrs).  SBA, USDA, and other government-enhanced lending was the daily focus at Arizona Business Bank and Todd remained active with SBA during his tenure with Great Western. 

Todd has a particular affinity for ground-up construction, having previously paid the bills as a tradesman. There is a strong sense of satisfaction being part of the team that comes together to complete a project, whether you lay the concrete or assist with the financing. It is tangible, and you can drive past and see the physical manifestation for decades. 

Todd has a particular interest in assisting small business owners as well.  That is the focus with community and regional banks where he spent most of his career and remains the sole focus at Arizona Capital Source.  Small business is the heartbeat of our cities and towns, and is the major force of economic development. Small business owners are an enthusiastic and varied group; no two projects are ever the same.  Helping those small business owners achieve their goals  is a rewarding position and the reason he’s stayed in the industry his entire career.  

Brent Smith

Brent Smith is the Credit Manager for Arizona Capital Source.  He manages the underwriting and loan packaging team.

Brent grew up in Northern Virginia and moved to Arizona in 2000 to attend Northern Arizona University.  He lived in Flagstaff for 8 years.  He has a Master’s degree in finance/management and a Bachelor’s degree in graphic design both from NAU.

Brent began his small business lending career with National Bank of Arizona in 2008. He joined Arizona Capital Source in 2017.  Brent enjoys helping small businesses obtain financing that they may not be able to receive from conventional financing.

Brent is married and has three children. He enjoys playing golf, hiking, fishing, and watching NFL and NHL games.

Jennifer Wichman

Jennifer Wichman (Rogers) joined Arizona Capital Source in 2017 as a BDO/Closing Officer. In 2020 she was promoted to Closing Manager and currently oversees the closing and funding department.

Jennifer was born and raised on a ranch in Central Montana.  In 2010, she graduated from Dickinson State University in North Dakota with a Bachelor’s in Business and a Minor in Management.  Immediately following graduation, Jennifer began her career in finance.

The focus of Jennifer’s career has been in mission-based lending with over 13 years in the finance industry, 11 of those directly with CDCs/CDFIs.  She has experience in all aspects of the lending process, from origination to servicing.

Jennifer is married and has a daughter.  She enjoys spending time with her family and her small dog Charly, road trips to Montana, camping, singing and riding horses.

Ashley Mapes

Ashley Mapes earned a Bachelor’s degree with a dual major in Business Management and Marketing from Northwood University in Midland, MI. She has over 15 years of commercial lending, and financial services experience that includes over 11 years with ACS. She is an expert not only in SBA loan origination, but the entire SBA 504 and 7(a) process through final funding.  Ashley works to help small business owners navigate the SBA application and approval process and is committed to helping businesses secure the financing they need to grow and thrive.

Ashley is empathic to Arizona’s small business owners, as she has personally owned a small business. She has gone through the process to obtain an SBA 7(a) loan to purchase a 25-year-old local Arizona Business. After implementing many efficacies and hiring new staff, she sold her business to one of her manufacturers.

Ashley joined ACS in 2013 as an SBA 504 Closing Specialist before transitioning to Business Development Officer who specializes in both SBA 504 and 7(a) lending.

Lori Simmons

Lori Simmons brings Arizona Capital Source over thirty years of commercial underwriting, lending and relationship management experience. She managed commercial banking relationships for two large banks, a community bank, and a Tucson non-profit organization. Lori received her degree in Finance from Northern Arizona University, and spent much of her professional career in Northern Arizona, and has strong community connections from across the entire state of Arizona. Lori prides herself on being able to demystify the lending process for small business owners. She enjoys educating clients and helping them achieve their business growth goals.

Lori’s passion has always been serving on non-profit boards, primarily those that serve youth in our communities. She has been a public school board member, Booster Club and PTO President, and Economic Development Council Treasurer while in the Verde Valley. Since relocating to Tucson, Lori was a Member of the Southern AZ Chapter of the National Football Foundation and 100+ Women Who Care Tucso. She is a volunteer for Project Mom at U of A, a Community Foodbank volunteer, and a member of CREW and CCIM.

Lori is married and has three grown sons she is very proud of. She enjoys bass fishing at Roosevelt Lake, trout fishing from her kayak in the White Mountains, riding in her side by side in Happy Jack, and anything where she can spend time with her husband and sons outdoors.
